You like quality things in life: outstanding food & cocktails, dream vacations, and if you’re a car guy (or girl), the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance car show is one of one of the most exquisite in America.
For our aficionados of car and sport, consider taking a trip to our top five American car museums (if you haven’t already).
- Petersen Automotive Museum — Los Angeles, California
You can’t talk car museums without talking about Petersen. As the top automotive museum in the US, the flame-like exterior is home to over 250 examples of exemplary automotive history. It includes absolute gems of automotive history, including a very rare 1939 Porsche 64, one of two in the world, the Batmobile from Batman Returns, and also includes motorcycles, which are sometimes omitted from other museums.
- Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum — Indianapolis, Indiana
Considering going to Indy to catch a race? While you’re there, take a few hours to wander through the Hall of Fame museum, located only 2.5 short miles from the Speedway. Including vehicles and artifacts covering well over 100 years of automotive racing history, you’ll be able to see 75 vehicles from NASCAR, Formula One, American short track and drag racing history. But come back again, because the displays rotate frequently through their extensive collection.
- National Automobile Museum — Reno, Nevada
Get away from the casinos and check out the 200 outstanding automobiles on display at the National Automobile Museum, including imagery from their appropriate time period to help set the scene. Featuring both permanent and special exhibits, it includes Elvis Presley’s 1973 Cadillac Eldorado Custom Coupe, numerous vehicles from Bill Harrah’s extensive car collection, and James Dean’s 1949 Mercury Series 9CM coupe.
- The Henry Ford Museum — Dearborn, Michigan
