If you or your significant other are trying to switch things up and break out of the routine, then you need to find a little dose of creativity. Trying something new is a great way to keep strengthening your relationship. So here are a few ideas to make date night a little extra special if you’re isolating at home.

Try beer from a local brewery.

It might seem like breweries are popping up everywhere, so find one that has a new drink selection coming out and make a quick trip to pick up a few drinks from the store. Bring back different flavors, taste test thoroughly, and talk about how you’d rate them. You can even make a fun drinking game out of it for a boozy date night.

Take a dance lesson together via video conferencing.

If you and your significant other don’t dance together that often, then take a dance lesson using video conferences. Studios know they have to get innovative to maintain interest, so many are posting lessons online using video conferencing tools such as Master Class. And if you don’t want to pay for classes, simply find a fun tutorial video on YouTube.

Plan a picnic on the patio.

Another great way to spend the day together is to try a picnic at home. Even though people might not be able to leave their homes right now, sitting out on the balcony or in the backyard is a great way to get some fresh air while still staying away from the crowds. Bring lunch or dinner, a bottle of wine, and a delicious dessert.

Try painting together.

One of the most popular trends right now is painting with watercolors. This could be a romantic evening together, painting a blank canvas with a lit candle. Even for those who haven’t painted since grade school, this is a great way to bond together at home.

Play some trivia via video conferencing.

Many trivia gurus have posted some serious challenges online, so this is a fun way to test your brain power as a couple. Either play against each other, or play in a chatroom with other couples and make it a competitive sport.

Try a new board game.

While Monopoly and Life are classics, there are plenty of other great board games out there, some even on the sexy side. Strip or Tease, Love Language, and TableTopics are great options to help you and your partner get to know each other a little better than you already do.

Cook a challenging meal.

There’s something special about cooking with your significant other. Find a recipe you’ve been dying to try, or do the complete opposite and make a game out of trying to elevate your favorite childhood meal. Then taste test and see whose is better while keeping the night fun and playful.
